Purpose

The purpose of this discussion is for you to search for qualitative evidence that contributes to practice change and improvement of a National Practice Problem. You will become proficient in research critique when using the Johns Hopkins Appraisal and Summary Tools. You will gain experience in research critique of qualitative evidence and judging qualitative evidence for applicability to the practice problem. You will evaluate research for quality and level of evidence.

Instructions

  1. Conduct a search of the literature to find a qualitative research article related to the National Practice Problem you used in previous weeks. The evidence must have been published within the past 5 years.
  2. Present the written reference and the permalink to the article you chose.
  3. Describe the value of the qualitative research findings related to the National Practice Problem.

Research is an integral part for the growth of any profession, and nursing is not an exception. According to Boswell & Cannon (2022), nursing research is a systematic inquiry to address problems or answer the question encountered in the clinical practice, administration, or education. As such, nurses are expected to understand research to enable them conduct research in their field. Nurses can use either qualitative, quantitative, or both research methods to conduct research.
