Compare and contrast each of the guidelines, and provide rationale for which one you are most likely to use as a first-line reference tool going forward in your practice.

APA (American Psychiatric Association has in the recent past updated its guideline on the management of the major depressive disorder. The new guideline is evidence-based and it sums up recommendations on the administration of antidepressants as well as other drug therapies, psychotherapy, encompassing electroconvulsive therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Patients experiencing major depressive disorder tend to have co-occurring psychiatric disorders, such as substance abuse disorders.
