The patient has been taking lithium for years which means that it has been effective in managing bipolar disorder. However, it is important to monitor lithium levels to avoid lithium toxicity.  Toxicity may occur due to long-term therapy as there is cumulative concentration of lithium hence the need to check lithium level, kidney test, and thyroid test (Kuczyńska et al., 2021). The patient should, however, discontinue taking amitriptyline because the patient has bipolar, and the use of this medication can trigger rapid cycling…………………………………………$10
